Asheville is one of the few high schools in the U.S. that offers Early Decision. The campus features hiking trails, equestrian trails, fields, forests, and streams, and the school's historic Tudor-style buildings are historical landmarks.
Asheville places great emphasis on the humanities. The school recently launched an integrated humanities course combining history and English, which helps students gain a more comprehensive understanding of history. Ninth-grade students will study ancient history (i.e., from the fall of the Roman Empire to the modern era); tenth-grade students will conduct comparative studies of major world religions and learn Eastern and medieval history; eleventh-grade students will study European history and literature; and twelfth-grade students will research American history and literature.

Compared to other boarding schools in the United States, what are the advantages and unique features of Asheville School? Could you please introduce them to us?

Admissions Officer:
Asheville School indeed has a very significant highlight compared to other schools. First is our student population; the school only has a little over 200 students. What are the advantages of a school of this size?

For example, during the first month of school, new students go through a process of familiarization and understanding. We organize many ceremonial activities to help students quickly get to know their classmates and integrate into the new environment. We hold activities on the large lawn on campus, where new and returning students walk hand-in-hand, which promotes interaction among students.

Because our student population is not particularly large, we can ensure that teachers and students, as well as students among themselves, are very familiar with each other, like a big family.

Our school also has a very good school spirit – supportive. We are a mutual-help school; different grades help each other, and students don't have bad habits, always maintaining a good atmosphere of mutual assistance.

Although Asheville School is not in a particularly popular area, we have a very unique advantage that allows students many opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking and mountain climbing.

Just a ten-minute drive from the local town, this school, nestled in what's known as a forest, has only 300 students. Its large campus feels like a serene haven amidst the bustling world. The school's warmth is evident in every detail, from personalized parking signs with visiting students' names at the entrance to detailed directions throughout, the busy yet orderly flow of teachers and students in the admissions office, and even individual welcome notes prepared for students. All these small touches unmistakably reflect Asheville School's welcoming ethos.
Our tour guide was a cheerful, outgoing senior boy who was about to graduate. The school boasts a large area with its own football field, tennis courts, hockey field, baseball field, indoor basketball court, indoor swimming pool, and a newly built outdoor rugby field. It's worth noting that the school's swimming program is exceptionally strong, with a state champion! Furthermore, its unique geographical advantage allows for many outdoor activities such as hiking and cross-country running.
The school's academics are also robust, offering AP courses and advanced programs. The school operates on a three-term academic year. In the science building, every child was actively engaged in group discussions or focused on experiments, showcasing the school's academic atmosphere. The school places a strong emphasis on public speaking, inviting scholars from various fields annually to give presentations and share insights.
Beyond the hardware and environment, the school's humanistic atmosphere is truly remarkable! Enthusiastic and warm faculty and staff, along with vibrant and confident students, are seen everywhere. It's undoubtedly a treasure school, dubbed the most beautiful private high school in North Carolina, excelling in nurturing outstanding student qualities!
