Desert Chapel Christian School, an ongoing ministry of Desert Chapel, was first established as an elementary school in January of 1980. The school continued to expand with the addition of a middle school in 1990 and a high school in 1999. Since those humble beginnings, Desert Chapel Christian School has become well known in our community for its accomplishments. Busy Bee Learning Center was established in 1968 by Pastor O.E. Gordon, then Pastor of the Jamaica SDA Church, Jamaica, New York. For more than thirty years, the Center has provided students, ages 2 1/2 to 6 years, with a Christian education in a loving, stimulating and secure environment. John was also known as the beloved disciple, and in his closeness to Jesus rested his head on Jesus during the Last Supper. As the only Apostle to remain by Jesus' side during the crucifixion, John was given the responsibility of caring for Mary, our Blessed Mother, after Jesus' death. Jesus predicted that John would not be martyred and he likely lived a long life. In that time, it is believed that he wrote the fourth Gospel, three letters, and possibly, the Book of Revelation. In these writings, John shows us the grandeur of Jesus' divine being as he speaks of the Word that became flesh and proclaims that God is love.
