Cheshire Academy data: student population 344, student-teacher ratio 1:6, international student ratio 28%, boarding rate 55%, teachers with advanced degrees 67%. Cheshire Academy has a history of over 200 years. In addition to a high-quality academic history, it boasts superior and proud traditions in other aspects. These excellent traditions guide students to develop new interests and lifelong beneficial activities. In this big family, we have nurtured outstanding athletes who have participated in the Olympic Games and various national professional competitions; there are also internationally renowned musicians, actors, novelists, and playwrights. As a student-centered school, Cheshire Academy believes that in a learning environment, students are motivated only when they have a need. This model is known at Cheshire Academy as "student-centered learning environment" or "CASCLE" for short. In such a family, education for students is not rote learning but rather emerges from among students, between students, and between teachers and students. Such an educational environment places students in a position where their comprehensive abilities improve. Through various exchanges and adventurous attempts, students are encouraged to bravely ask new questions and trust their own intuition.
Teachers at Cheshire Academy adopt innovative and varied teaching models to discover and amplify students' talents. As a result, graduates are able to enter their first-choice universities as desired. At Cheshire Academy, students are pragmatic, believe in their own abilities and the dreams they hold.

Children here are having a very tough time. This is arguably the most overrated American high school. If this is your only option, it would be much better to stay in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen and attend an international school! The school's teacher turnover rate is extremely high, and 90% of the teachers lack teaching passion and are highly irresponsible. Because the school itself doesn't prioritize academics, teachers don't even teach in class; children mostly rely on watching videos for self-study. Most Chinese students are deceived and brought here by agents taking kickbacks... If your child is ambitious, absolutely do not send them to this school; it will only destroy their future.

Cheshire is an IB school with rigorous academic requirements. The academic year at Cheshire Secondary School is divided into two semesters. At the end of each semester, the school will notify the academic office to release grades and evaluations scored by teachers. Students and parents can view their recorded report cards and evaluations as soon as possible through the My Cheshire portal. The Academic Honor Roll will announce students who have achieved First or Second Honors after each semester. Students with a GPA of not less than 3.67 (A-) and no course grade below 3.0 (B) will be eligible for First Honors. To achieve Second Honors, students need a GPA of 3.33 (B+) or above, with no course grade below 2.33 (C+). Students who receive a "Fail" grade in any course will not be eligible for academic honors at the end of the semester, unless they receive approval from the academic office and can demonstrate that the failure to meet standards was due to illness or special circumstances.

Cheshire Academy was exceptionally welcoming to international students during the pandemic. Its campus supervision and support for international students are among the best boarding schools offer. Cheshire is outstanding in terms of its geographical location, nearby universities, the matriculation rate of Chinese students into Ivy League schools, and the overall matriculation rate for the entire school. I've been involved with sending students to Cheshire Academy for almost 10 years, and the admission standards over the past two years have remained relatively stable, unlike some schools that have significantly lowered their requirements. Cheshire is a principled school that takes its student selection very responsibly.

A wonderful international family. The teachers are kind and approachable, and their teaching is rigorous yet lively. Due to the open and personalized teaching format, the knowledge and information students acquire are seamlessly connected with international frontiers. It serves as a solid ladder and bridge for students to enter universities in Europe and America, and its rich extracurricular activities create the most beautiful adolescent memories for them. Students are proud to be students of Cheshire School. ———George, Parent of a 2022 Graduating High School Student

Several teachers at the school are excellent. For example, the math and Spanish teachers are very popular with the child. The school focuses strongly on academics; relatively speaking, activities are not very lively (perhaps due to the pandemic). The child's assessment is: it's somewhat similar to schools back home in this regard. The school's arrangements during the pandemic were quite humane, and timely and transparent communication kept parents informed. Although the teachers worked quite hard, they remained friendly. 5 stars.

Regarding this pandemic, I must specifically commend Cheshire Academy, which provided international students with extensive information and extremely thoughtful policies in response to the epidemic.

Shortly after the full outbreak of the pandemic in the United States, Cheshire Academy sent official documents to incoming students, covering the following points:
1. For students who do not wish to take online courses in Fall 2020, they can receive a full refund if they notify the school in writing before the start of the semester.
2. For students unable to attend school due to objective factors such as visa issues, inability to enter the country, or canceled flights, a full refund is available.
3. For students whose family finances have been affected by the pandemic and cannot pay tuition on time, financial aid can be applied for.
4. All incoming students, including returning students and new students, are offered free summer credit courses, allowing students to take courses taught by the school's teachers online in advance, maximizing help for students to adapt to the classroom and earn more credits.

Cheshire Academy currently also accepts requests from parents to defer enrollment due to the pandemic.

At this critical moment, for a school to consider its students in such a way demonstrates two things: First, the school has strong financial resources; second, it is student-centered.
