The curriculum thesehn's offers is amazing and diverse. There are all sorts of levels to each subject, such as introduction classes (classes that are a slower pace for students who want to take the time to fully grasp a subject before taking it the next year) to higher level college and AP courses that are face paced, and are taught and graded as if you were in college. From there, course load varies, however teachers are very accomadating and always offer extra help if needed. Having the same guidance counselor for all 4 years really helps, because they get to know who you are as a student and as a person, and that helps them better assit you with schedualing and college decision making. Guidance counselors are also there to help and possibly give advice on how certain teachers run their classrooms, which comes in handy if you are having trouble in a specific subject. The academics can also be bent to fit you in the best way. For example, maybe you want to take an entry level math class, but an AP science - that is perfectly acceptable! Once you choose a "level" in one subject, you do not need to stick to it in every other subject. You can really cater your schedule to fit your academic desires.

There is no dormitory. The school has heating and air conditioning located in various places. There are nearby towns where delis are located, there is a hospital across the street, and we are a few minutes away from Robert Moses beach, where many students hang out in the summer. The school has so many after-school activities that most students do not leave until 5:30 and you really feel like a family within your first month here. The time managament can easily be worked out with the help of teachers and staff if needed. Many teachers know how important sports/extracirruclars are and will help you manage school work if you ask.

Everyone gets along here. St.John's is such a diverse community and that makes us able to incorporate a lot into our school. After being accepted, you will most likely have to do an interview. The key to the interview is just to be yourself. St.John's wants motivated students. You can talk about clubs or subjects/electives you are looking forward to taking. The people working in admissions are so nice and they just want to make sure you are the right fit.

There are over 50 clubs at St.John's, not including sports. We have all the usual sports you would find in an American school, plus some different ones like horseback riding, rowing, and bowling. New clubs are always being added to St.John's and many are student run. I play volleyball and I run track in the winter. For clubs I am in Ambassadors, Student Council, the Van Goes (service projects), Yearbook, Media (morning announcments/video production), Art club, Stained Glass, Random Acts of Kindness, the National Society of High School Honors, and Students Against Destructive Decisions.
