Hello!!

My name is Doan Nhat Thanh, and I am currently a 2nd-year student at Hyde School. After some time, I have a few things to share about Hyde School. The teachers and students here are very friendly, relaxed, and cheerful; they are always ready to help you if you need it. As for the facilities, they are excellent, fully equipped with everything from sports to entertainment. Regarding subjects, you get to choose 6 subjects you like to study, and the schedule is not dense at all. Moreover, there are many beneficial activities at school, such as camping, family weekends, etc. In summary, Hyde School is wonderful, and I am truly satisfied to be studying here. Of course, I can't list everything here, but there are many other interesting things you will experience when you come to Hyde. Thank you!

The school is full boarding and very safe. The facilities are also quite comprehensive. The curriculum is not very difficult. There will be specialized teachers to help with university applications. The cafeteria is generally quite good. For sports activities, you can choose different teams based on your personal ability and interests.

The years I spent studying at Hyde School greatly benefited me. The school provided international students with multi-faceted care. This care and help, offered in academics, daily life, and for everyone's mental and physical health, allowed me, who had just arrived in the US at the time, to quickly integrate into the local cultural atmosphere. Especially with the help of the school's teachers, I not only made great progress in language and academics, but more importantly, I felt supported by them. The school's activities are also rich and varied: various sports teams, competitions, family weekends, and so on. Students and teachers spend time together day and night, ultimately forming a warm family.

Hyde School focuses on character development. It offers many opportunities to challenge one's abilities, teaching students to gain experience interacting in groups, practice public speaking, active listening, and giving advice to others. The school also pays great attention to Chinese students' festivals, organizing Chinese dinners, hot pot gatherings, and trips to Boston. Students can also learn new sports and strengthen their bodies; I, for example, learned to swim, which was very interesting. The school's scenery is also beautiful, with many trees in the small town, making it well worth a visit.

Hyde School not only provides students with excellent academic education but also with education for the soul. Hyde feels less like a school to me and more like a big family. At Hyde, you don't just learn academic knowledge, but also how to plan for the future, such as leadership, courage, curiosity, and mutual care among friends.

The school facilities are excellent and very welcoming. The teachers show a very high level of attention to students! I visited the campus in November 2021, and my current student guided me through the campus. The campus is very large and beautiful. My student is very satisfied with this school; he transferred to Hyde School. So far, he has already received admission offers from several satisfactory universities. The school's college counselors are also very supportive.

The school is located in Bath, Maine, about a 30-minute drive from Portland, Maine's largest city. Many young people in their twenties and thirties are moving to Bath because of its similar city style, beautiful beaches, slower pace of life, and more affordable housing prices.

The school is situated on the beautiful 145-acre Hyde Family Estate. The campus features the magnificent 1914 Manor and the original Serenity Garden, with a total of 16 main buildings. It boasts a 5,400-square-foot library, resource center, computer labs, and comfortable classrooms, some of which overlook the picturesque campus.

School Advantages:

1. Academic Programs: A rich variety of academic programs are offered, including AP courses, Honors courses, and "Dual Enrollment" (college credit) programs. For all courses where an AP option is not available, students can apply to earn Honors course credit through additional academic assignments.

2. Technology Application: The school utilizes the latest technology for teaching and management. Students and parents can download an APP to view courses, assignments, grade reports, and school news online.

3. Arts Programs: The arts curriculum is very extensive, including Art Fundamentals, Ceramics, Wood Craft, Advanced Integrated Arts, Introduction to Music and Songwriting, Advanced Music Theory and Performance, Sound Engineering and Stage Production, Public Speaking, and Dramatic Performance.

As a parent of a Hyde student, I must give a thumbs-up to our school.
When the pandemic broke out in the U.S., the school provided the warmest care to every one of our Chinese international students, until the last student safely returned to China. A teacher drove for 5 and a half hours at 5 AM to take a child to New York airport, and waited until they passed security before returning. The school also prepared heartwarming anti-epidemic kits for every international student.
For this autumn semester, due to the pandemic, flights, and border issues, all our Chinese international students have to attend online classes. The school specifically considered the time difference for the children, arranging most classes for the early part of the night (before 12 AM). This means the teacher for the earliest class has to start teaching at 7 AM.
The teachers at Hyde School are all very nice. Principal Laura is a kind and loving woman. The school pays great attention to Chinese international students and also cares for them in their daily lives. They even specifically hired a Chinese-American female teacher to assist with daily communication with international students' parents and to update them on the children's situation at school. Teacher Jiang is a very caring and responsible teacher.
Academically, in 2020, Hyde had 4 Chinese international students graduate, and their college placements were quite good. From the two I know, one was admitted early to Boston College, and another was admitted to the University of Washington, Seattle. There might also be one admitted to UC Davis.

Just to clarify: In my previous comment, when I said, "Regarding Chinese international students applying to university, honestly, studying mainly depends on the students themselves" --- I meant that no matter where you are or what you do, you need to rely on your own efforts. Of course, the school's learning atmosphere, faculty strength, and guidance for academic research are equally important, and Hyde School has been working hard in this regard. Also, attaching a photo of the gymnasium for everyone to see (the system only allows one image to be attached).

A small boarding school in Maine where all teachers and students live on campus. The principal and teachers know almost every student. Small class sizes, 3-8 students per class.
The school facilities are complete, including teaching buildings, a beautiful red art building nestled in the mountains and woods, a gym, playground, outdoor adventure course, etc. The campus is very beautiful. The school is located in Bath, Maine, very close to the seaside. The town is quiet and cozy, suitable for studying.
Dormitories are double rooms, fully equipped, managed by residential teachers, with a meeting every night before bedtime. Internet is shut off from Sunday to Friday at 11 PM. There are study rooms where students can study late at night, with a supervising teacher on duty.
***It's important to highlight: One point that makes us parents feel very good is that the school pays great attention to Chinese international students. The school celebrates Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year with Chinese international students, arranging celebrations and performance parties. For example, during Thanksgiving 2019, the school allowed Chinese international students to stay on campus and also took them on a sightseeing trip to Boston. The school specifically employs Chinese-American teachers to communicate daily with student parents and frequently sends us updates on student activities.
Regarding Chinese international students' university admissions, honestly, academic success largely depends on the students themselves. To my knowledge, in 2018, a Chinese student was an honor graduate of the school and was admitted to a top 20 university. In 2019, several Chinese students received school academic honor awards. A male classmate my child knows was admitted to Boston College via Early Action. To my knowledge, the school has a pair of math teachers who graduated from Harvard University.
This school can be recommended. Attached are a few photos of the school.
