Best Boys School Ever

It's a correct decision to send our son to Mccallie as the boarding life shaped him from a boy to a man. At McCallie, the structured yet supportive dorm environment forced him to step up. He learned to manage his own time, keep his space organized, balance studying with friends, and even work through small conflicts on his own.The dorm parents are caring but not overprotective, which meant he had room to grow. He started taking responsibility for his grades, his chores, and his commitments. It was amazing to watch him become more self-reliant and confident in just a year.
Academically, the school pushes him hard, but the teachers are always there to help, even durimg the trip to national squash competition.

Good school, good academics and culture. A lot of APs and STEM and humanities electives. A lot of student clubs that receive funding from the school. Food is decent and boarding life is well-structured. Weather is nice.

A gem of an all-boys school, about 1.5 hours drive from Atlanta. It's particularly suitable if your child enjoys sports. The campus environment is beautiful, and facilities are comprehensive. The small city of Chattanooga is lovely, and the people are very nice. My elder brother specializes in tennis; he gets to exercise and study, and the school provides many resources and opportunities. Local parents were very helpful when my brother boarded at the school. Many Chinese parents are not very familiar with this school, but it is a very well-known local private school in the central US.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of our child's enrollment at Macaulay. Our child has now graduated from a US university and is working in the United States.
Recalling 10 years ago, stepping onto this unfamiliar land and entering a new environment, all the teachers and students at Macaulay welcomed us with open arms. We spent four enjoyable and fulfilling years there. In the year of high school graduation, due to the pandemic, we couldn't go home, and Macaulay took us in and provided meticulous care. Macaulay is not only academically excellent and rich in activities, but the school's humanistic care is what we are most grateful for. This is an excellent school where boys can achieve all-round development. Both academics and sports are very strong. The school teachers and the overall atmosphere are also excellent. It's an unadvertised, underrated school. Academics: The academic standard is extremely high. Whether for international students or American children, the learning atmosphere is strong, with standardized programs and in-school exams. Sports: It is a true sports powerhouse. Each student chooses and participates in 2 to 3 sports. Activities: On-campus research activities regularly produce state and national champions or major awards every year. Life: Boarding students make up more than half of the student body. Two students share a dorm room, and dorm supervisors are diligent and responsible, guiding students in their studies and daily lives. Location: The local airport is a 15-minute drive from the school. If arriving at Atlanta Airport, there are convenient inter-city buses, with a journey of about 2 hours. As an all-boys school, it has both competitive peer schools and affiliated private girls' schools for social interaction.

I'm very glad my child was able to complete four years of high school at McCallie School. The entire city is peaceful and quiet, making it especially suitable for studying. The school is very friendly to Chinese students, and the classmates are also very kind. Although coming from China, the transportation here is not as convenient as on the East or West Coast of the US, it has also given my child an opportunity for growth.

We are incredibly grateful for our child's high school years spent at this traditional Southern boys' school. Both the school and the city left our entire family with deep and beautiful memories. My son entered McCallie as a 9th grader in 2017. Over his four years of high school, I witnessed a boy grow into a man. He joined the rowing team in 9th grade and, with his coaches and teammates, progressed from the novice squad to the varsity team, representing the school in state and national competitions. McCallie's rowing team has a high level of training; the coach is a former U.S. national team member who competed internationally. The training was extremely tough, and he often expressed his wavering resolve on the phone, feeling like he couldn't go on. However, with the encouragement of his coach and teammates, he rowed for four full years, developing a deep bond with the sport and forming strong brotherhoods with his teammates. These four years of rowing experiences transformed him into a resilient and self-disciplined person. Our family is deeply gratified by the opportunities and support McCallie provided him. McCallie is an all-boys school, and it is precisely in this specific environment that a group of boys honed their wills, cultivated brotherhood, and shaped personalities characterized by honesty, self-discipline, responsibility, and ambition. Spent four incredibly memorable years at McCallie. Academically, the humanities programs are exceptionally strong. To achieve a high GPA, I dedicated myself to History and Literature, which laid an excellent foundation for my subsequent academic writing. In the sciences, we loved mathematics and participated in HIMCM for three years; the O-prize in the third year significantly aided college admissions. Unlike regular high schools, competitions here purely rely on students forming their own teams, without external support. My child mentioned that the school motto is 'honesty'. It's a powerhouse in sports, with numerous programs consistently being state champions. Tennis is particularly strong, and our Cross Country team is also a state champion. The school has also produced Olympic medalists, whose medals have been donated to the school. We once sustained an injury during a competition, and the school handled it with utmost professionalism, providing rehabilitation training that ensured a swift recovery. The people here are exceptionally kind. During the pandemic year, to avoid impacting his studies and college applications, my child did not return home; classmates and teachers graciously provided accommodation, and together they navigated the challenges of the pandemic. The school genuinely cares about international students' well-being. For short holidays when returning home isn't feasible, teachers specifically organize trips for international students. It's a closed campus, ensuring a high level of safety. Every graduating class of seniors provides extensive support to their juniors across various aspects, including daily life, academics, and college application guidance. The campus is stunningly beautiful, and the Southern climate is also very pleasant. Full of gratitude!

My son had a wonderful high school experience here. When I moved from the West Coast to the East Coast and then to beautiful Tennessee, we decided against schools in the western and eastern regions and chose McCallie instead. I'm very grateful; it was an absolutely correct decision! The teachers are incredibly friendly. When my son went home for holidays, a teacher even drove him to the airport. The learning environment is undoubtedly excellent. Academics here are very rigorous, and the dorm teachers manage evening study halls very strictly, which is truly beneficial! This makes me want my kids to study hard for TOEFL and go to Baylor next door. During the pandemic, McKerlie also had international students transfer.

Due to the pandemic, international students have been unable to attend school in person for nearly a year. The school has refused to refund any meal or accommodation fees to international students. The reason provided is that the contract states that once tuition fees are paid, no refunds will be issued under any circumstances. For international students in China, attending live online classes requires them to be online from 8:50 PM Beijing time until 3:30 AM or from 9:50 PM until 4:30 AM. The school has also refused to adjust the class schedule for Chinese students by even one minute.
