A long-established, reputable American high school, balancing academics with community. It offers both boarding and day student options.
It emphasizes critical and creative thinking, boasts a low student-to-teacher ratio with high classroom interaction. The campus culture encourages "being your authentic self," and extracurricular activities are exceptionally rich (drama, band, publishing, etc.) with high participation.
Geographically close to Boston (approx. 8 miles), offering convenient access to urban culture and opportunities. It has a strong college matriculation record, with most graduates attending Ivy League and other prestigious universities.
Admissions are highly competitive (limited boarding spots for international students). Most families report a strong academic challenge combined with a friendly and supportive community.

A top-tier private school not far from Boston, and one of the few K-12 boarding schools among top private schools. The school gallery hosts eight exhibitions annually, showcasing works by graduates, teachers, and regional artists. Last year, the school underwent a major renovation, moving the original library next to the student center and transforming the former library into a brand-new math building.
Ninth-grade report cards do not display grades. This gives students just entering high school a fairer opportunity to adapt to the school's rigorous academic environment and focus on their personal growth and well-being.
The school offers students opportunities for international exchange; 11th-grade students can choose to spend a semester living, working, and studying with teachers on a farm in Vermont.
The school has a strong sports program. In addition to standard indoor basketball courts, indoor and outdoor tracks, and an ice hockey rink, the school also boasts 17 tennis courts, 7 baseball fields, and 12 grass athletic fields.
Milton stages at least ten major theatrical productions annually, with over 200 students participating in the school choir.
In addition to standard English, Math, Science, Language, and Social Studies courses, the middle school curriculum also includes Computer Technology courses.

Milton's performing arts curriculum is founded on collaboration and respect between students and teachers. Students and teachers learn together, proposing an idea—testing it—receiving feedback—adapting—and trying again, with the ultimate goal of sharing artistic performances, drama, dance, speech, theater design, and refining performances (in class and during rehearsals). In this process, students learn to trust each other and progress together. Milton stages at least ten major productions annually, including large ensemble musicals, traditional Fourth Form plays, the beloved "1212" productions, the popular Winter Dance Concert, and Improv Nights. Milton provides students with countless opportunities to showcase their skills in acting, dance, directing, or theatrical design. Milton offers an advanced environmental science course that focuses on guiding students to understand how nature works and to find solutions to real environmental problems through genuine scientific 'practice'. Coursework largely involves field trips, and students highly enjoy these outdoor field activities. The school's location near the Blue Hills, at the mouth of the Neponset River (Boston Harbor's only salt marsh estuary), and surrounded by numerous wetlands and streams, provides an exceptionally rich resource for natural experimental learning. In recent years, the school's environmental science program has collaborated with the local watershed management organization, the Neponset River Watershed Association, focusing on long-term ecological monitoring research of the local ecosystem. Students interested in environmental science should definitely consider this school.

The charm of Milton Academy lies in the endless opportunities it opens up and its inclusivity and encouragement of students' any interests. Milton Academy's hallmark is diversity. Students from all corners of the world, as long as they have a passionate attitude towards an interest, and the school has sufficient resources, will be successful students at Milton Academy. This might be a moment where an obsession is recognized, much like the education many American schools emphasize: the soul comes from guidance.
The school's more than 50 student clubs are designed to encourage students to participate frequently and actively. American educators firmly believe that one cannot adequately judge what they are most interested in until after a period of exploration. Therefore, Milton strives to create an academically free environment, avoiding standardized models and encouraging creative, open intellectual exchange. The diverse sources of interest drive Milton Academy's spirit of willingness to research and dare to explore. The interview is a highly valued part for them, as they can feel the spark of passion during the interview.
The school's admissions director told me: "If a student possesses the kind of spirit we seek for a particular interest, it will certainly manifest in their enthusiasm in all aspects." For example, a common manifestation is a child who loves mathematics not missing any math competition and winning awards.
Because many competitive applicants also apply to Exeter and Andover, the difficulty of applying to Milton is relatively high.
