I can tell you that schools, across the board, saw significant applicant increases last year and there doesn’t seem to be any decline this year. So, since schools are not increasing how many students they accept, the admission process will be more competitive. So it’s not about decreasing the number of Chinese students, more so that there are simply more students vying for a finite set of spots.
原因很简单，因为这两年疫情，面试的形式做了很大的变化，2020年以前，基本上申请美高都是需要去做campus interview的，也就是到学校进行校园参观加面试，但是疫情以后，面试的形式都变成了zoom的形式，线上面试意味着学生面试的成本低了很多，我所说的是时间成本，往年需要舟车劳顿去面试，现在通过zoom就实现了，所以这些牛娃的申请学校的数量会增多，比如A学生今天可以面试groton，明天可以面试cate，后天可以面试Episcopal High School，因为通过zoom就实现了，但是这个面试在去做校园面试的时候，从到学校面试上来看，从地理空间上来看都是不可能实现的，但是在zoom上就可以实现，所以牛娃申请牛校的数量会增加，这就好理解了为什么牛校收到的申请材料比往年多。
