That is excellent news, you have two strong schools to choose between, and I would be happy to explain some of the differences. Worcester Academy is larger than Cheshire Academy, but it also is a combined middle/upper school campus. Our high schools would be pretty comparable in size. Another difference is that Worcester Academy is mainly a day school (35% of students board) whereas Cheshire Academy is mainly a boarding school (65% of students board). Cheshire has a strong mix of domestic and international boarders that call its campus "home" and there is always something to do on the weekends.
In terms of academics, Cheshire Academy follows the IB curricula. Often referred to as the "gold standard" of high school academics, the IB diploma program encourages students to THINK CRITICALLY, to investigate, and to understand while preparing students to matriculate and be successful into the colleges of their choice. Worcester Academy follows the American diploma program with AP coursework, and both AP and IB exams can be used to obtain advanced standing in college.
Both schools have competitive athletics programs, but Cheshire also is known for its math team which competes in contests at Harvard and MIT. We're currently ranked #1 in our state and #4 for private schools in New England. We also have a competitive Science Olympiad program and students this year formed a robotics team.
Finally, Cheshire Academy completely transformed our tuition model this past year and now include everything from airport transportation, accommodation and meals during November and March vacations, private music lessons, and more.
