First of all, if your son likes to make friends, then he should applying for a boarding school and not a day school. He will have a lot more opportunities to make friends if he lives at school.
You should at least have TOEFL if not the SSAT. But you should also talk to the schools first to see if they are interested in your son even though he hasn't done both tests.
I have a few top to good schools who have asked me to look for students for them. However I cannot disclose their names. But their admission rates to ivy leagues and top boarding schools are good.
