It is good to have academic excellence and good extra-curricular activities as ingredients to apply to U.S. schools. However, everything is relative and what you think is good may be average in U.S. standards. The most important thing is that your child's English standard is excellent because English is the medium of communication and for learning, especially in top 10 boarding schools. You need to be an A student in English and have excellent TOEFL and SSAT scores if you are serious about attending top 10 schools, otherwise you will just suffer because you don't understand the language.
