Hotchkiss is in the middle of no where in Connecticut, the nearest town is 20 minutes drive away. The campus is very pretty, so you could think of it as 世外桃源:) I spent my senior year of high school at Hotchkiss and had an incredible time. People in general are very close in the small community. Staff and faculties are warm and very willing to help you. Everyone knows everyone. Some classes are chill while others are challenging. As excellent as Hotchkiss is, it is a relative small school with a few hundreds of students. So there is limitation to the courses offered afterall. My feeling is that Hotchkiss had a very strong literature department the time I was there.
Hotchkiss has a diverse and super talented student body. Many people are athletes, smart students, talented artists and leaders all at the same time. As international student one could have a hard time fitting in at first, but that's the case no matter where you are. And I would say Hotchkiss makes it easier for international kids to make friends and be part of the community than other places I have been.
The only downside to Hotckiss I could think of now would be because people are excellent there, you probably will have a hard time standing out. For example, if you are at a less competitive school you can probably get better grades and assume more leadership roles than if you are at Hotchkiss.
