特尔菲学校

[学术方面] 我是一名10年前毕业的毕业生，我和我的姐姐弟弟也都曾在Delphi就读，我的姐姐因为年龄的原因转学到了其他学校，我和弟弟分别在2012和2014年毕业于Delphi。选择Delphi对我们姐弟来说是人生和教育的转折点。从国内来到Delphi就读，老师给予了非常多的支持，过渡到美国的生活因为离家万里所以不能说容易，但老师和学校社区都对我们非常照顾。我是从ESL开始读的，大概花了四个月的时间进入到正式的高中课程。学校是自主学习的模式，什么时候进入到下一个阶段的学习取决于学生自己的速度。这对我来说是非常创新的学习方法，我也非常喜欢。老师对于专业知识的理解非常深刻，能够循序渐进地辅导学生，找到适合学生的挑战。如果你对一些课程/学科感兴趣，到了高三/高四的时候还能多选修更深的课程。中国学生毕业从我的了解都进入到了不错的大学。我们姐弟三人因为Delphi给我们打下的基础，都进入到了波士顿大学就读（分别就读于酒店管理学院、商学院、教育学院和艺术学院），我的姐姐后来转到了康奈尔大学，我本科毕业后在哈佛教育学院读硕士。如果没有Delphi帮助我们打基础，我们也不会顺利进入好大学和研究生项目。 [生活方面] 学校离小镇大概开车半小时。常常会有学校/老师/生活导师组织学生去小镇或波特兰购物。我们在校时，联系家长的方式通常是邮件和电话，现在不太清楚，我知道老师们也开始用微信了。学校的基础设施不错，毕业之后已经重新修建了更多的设施。当时学校高中部熄灯的时间是10点半。 [申请方面] 我们是在2007和2008年入学，当时是电话面试。录取具体数据我不清楚。 [住家方面] 学校是住宿，一般1-3个学生一个房间。学校在山上，校园非常美丽！周末和晚上都有活动。 [课外活动和社团] 学校有非常多的不同选择，也有学生政府的机会来锻炼学生的领导力和组织能力。每周末也都有由学生组织的活动。下午有三节课外活动的课，我最喜欢的是陶艺课、美术课、合唱团和篮球队。学校的篮球、网球、足球、棒球都是强项，我记得常常会打入州级比赛。合唱队也是学校的强项，学校也有爵士合唱队。

[学术方面] I first got to Delphi when I was 12 years old. I didn't really know a lot of English and could definitely not write it. By the time I graduated from the school, I knew more English than my native language! At Delphi, there are many courses you can choose from that are tailored to your specific program. From Math to Logic, these courses challenged me in many different ways. Perhaps the most useful skill I've gained from the school and it's courses is to be an independent thinker and evaluate data for myself. This critical thinking skill has been so useful in life after graduation. [生活方面] I lived in dormitories with roommates for most of the time. Eventually as I progressed through the program and got older I was upgraded to the 2-East dorm which are independent dorm rooms. I loved both experiences. I learned to keep a clean and organized room. I learned simple things like how to do laundry and even how to tie a tie. [申请方面] There are Chinese students that attend the school, but the great thing is thst there are students from all over the world. Some of the nationalities I have seen at the school come from France, Mexico, Yemen, Spain, Portugal, India, Sweden, Russia, Italy and more. [住家方面] I gave boarding information above. [课外活动和社团] I played football soccer, baseball and my best sport, basketball. I was part of the most successful basketball team the school has ever had, we went on to play in the state competition. It was an incredible time that I'll remember forever. The main sport is soccer, the school is usually one of the top teams in the league and we go to the state playoffs pretty often. I also did pottery, art and even wood-working. In wood working, I made my own chess board.
