孩子初一，想送他去美高读书，可对于美国高中的了解，我只停留在选课学分制、跑班制，“全人”教育，其他具体的也说不上来了。 请教各位： 1.FS排名前100的寄宿美高，课程大致是什么样的？ 2.美高重视阅读，那他们的语文课是什么样的？我们国内公校，语文还在追求阅读理解有标准答案，美国有这种答案唯一的阅读理解题吗？国内中考的写作题，经常充满诗（无）情（病）画（呻）意（吟），俗称“废话型”作文，比如：爱，从没有改变、有一种甜、总会想起、有你真好……美国的作文课时什么样的呢？ 3.美高都很重视体育，那体育课程是什么样的呢？国内中考必须考长跑、引体向上、跳绳这几项，大家就练习这几项备考中考。美高的体育是选课吗？选自己喜欢、擅长的项目练习拿学分，不擅长的可以不选，对吗？ 孩子的英语水平还可以，六年级小托福第一次考了890，所以注意力从英语转移到了解其他方面了。 谢谢！

为什么家长、顾问都那么热衷申请top20、top30的高中？难道大家都不知道美国的升学跟国内不一样吗？国内是：上不了top高中就上不了top大学，可美国不一样啊！美国教育资源均衡，我看很多niche排名很靠后的高中都有好大学录取呢。难道选择高中的标准不是和自己匹配吗？看学校提供的资源自己是否能最大化地利用到吗？群里申到了top的家长兴高采烈，申到排名靠后的都不好意思吭声。我真的不理解啊。

困惑。。困惑。我关注FS排名好几年了，眼看着中意的学校Wyoming seminary从60几跌到了现在的90几，每年以10名的速度往下掉。我问过这所学校的家长，说学校课程、老师、本土生源都没有变，就是中国生源逐渐变差，所以中国学生的升学走向很难看。现在排名都跌到90多了，只怕会恶性循环。所以这样的学校还能去吗？这所学校stem学术、气候、无宗教，和我儿子的匹配度还挺高的，我原本计划是：避开卷校，让他去能做鸡头的学校，给他足够空间去追求卓越的，在任何学校只要排到top5%一样可以申好大学呀。可是现在排名跌到这么厉害，还值得去吗？中国同伴们成绩都不好，对孩子影响会有多大？我孩子情况：国内公立，托福首考108，英文听说能力强，理工科强势，体育一般，外向。谢谢！

看情况描述，还是留在国内9申9比较合适，不要考虑美初了，比较烧钱。。groton这种学校根本就不是为平民准备的，不在一个阶层孩子也会比较难受，也无法出头。

英语较弱是一个大坑，美高数学不难，多数中国孩子都没问题，英语是一个特别大的区分度。传统美高极其重视文科。

先别想什么特长亮点，当务之急是把英语提高上来，托福先破100，再练习听说，能撑起20—40分钟的面试。美高最重要的是面试，面试不行其他都白塔。英语能力是关键。

最重要的是英语要够好，面试考验你的听说能力，文书考验读写能力。比起英语，其他都不太重要。学校背景，就忽略不计吧，申请高中不看这个。
